Product Manager
A fast, safe daily workspace to search, filter, edit and bulk-manage OpenCart products.
Use Product Manager for routine product work. Keep OpenCart's full Product Form for less common fields or complex product configuration.
What Product Manager is for
Product Manager reduces the number of times you need to open a full OpenCart product page. You can find the products you need, make small edits directly in the grid, open a focused Quick Editor, create a simple new product, or apply the same controlled change to many products.

Views
| View | Best for | Typical information |
|---|---|---|
| Catalog | General daily product management | Image, Product Name, Model, Identifier, Price, Quantity, Status |
| Inventory | Stock and availability work | Quantity, Stock Status, Subtract Stock, Date Available |
| Pricing | Price and offer checks | Price, active Special, Tax Class, Manufacturer and quantity pricing indicators |
| Content | Content completeness | Name, Meta Title, description presence, tags and status |
Use Columns to hide or reorder columns for each view. Product Manager remembers the layout per view in your browser.
Finding the right products
Quick Filters
The buttons at the top are shortcuts for common checks: All, Low Stock, Out of Stock, Disabled, No Image, No Category, On Special and Recently Modified.
Advanced Filters
Use Advanced when you need combinations such as Product Name, Model, Product ID, a selected identifier such as SKU, Category, Manufacturer, Store, Status, Product Type, Price range, Quantity range, Stock Status, Date Available, Date Modified, image presence, active Special, Attribute or Filter.
Duplicate Product Codes
This is a read-only diagnostic for duplicate SKU or other OpenCart identifiers. Genuine duplicates are unrelated products sharing the same code value. Expected duplicates are Master/Variant inheritance that OpenCart intentionally shares. Product Manager reports them separately and never fixes duplicates automatically.
Editing directly in the grid
Editable cells show an edit cursor/tooltip. Most values use double-click to edit. Status and Subtract Stock are direct one-click toggles.
- Click a product image to open Quick Editor → Images.
- Click the Product Name to open Quick Editor → Content.
- Use Quick Edit to open Quick Editor → Data.
- Use Full Edit when you need the complete OpenCart Product Form.
- Use View Product to open the storefront product page.
Master and Variant products in simple English
| Product type | What Product Manager does |
|---|---|
| Standard product | Normal editing and supported bulk operations are available. |
| Master | When you change a field or relationship that its Variants inherit, Product Manager synchronises those inheriting Variants to the Master's final value. |
| Variant with an override | The Variant keeps its own overridden value. A Master change does not replace that intentional override. |
| Variant without an override | Inherited fields are normally read-only in Product Manager. Quantity is the important everyday exception because OpenCart treats Variant quantity independently. |
Quick Editor
The Quick Editor keeps the most useful product sections together without loading the entire OpenCart form.
Data
Fast access to common product values such as model, price, quantity, status, stock information, manufacturer and date availability where supported.
Associations
Manage Categories, Stores, Product Filters and Related Products with readable autocomplete results. Already-added matches are kept out of the way.
Attributes
Assign existing OpenCart Attributes and edit language-specific values. Create new Attribute definitions in OpenCart's Catalog → Attributes area, not inside Product Manager.
Images
Choose from HuntBee Media Manager or drag/drop images. Manage the main image, additional images and order. Direct Product Manager uploads are saved under catalog/product-manager/.
Content
Edit language-specific Name, Description, Meta Title, Meta Description, Meta Keywords and Tags with OpenCart's native CKEditor. Missing language content can be created deliberately.
Quick Add
Quick Add is for creating a normal Standard product quickly. It uses your configured defaults for tax class, stock status, stock subtraction, shipping, minimum quantity and stores. Content is created for your selected default language; complete other languages later with Product Manager Content, Bulk Translate or the full Product Form.
Selecting products for bulk work
You can select individual rows, a page, or use Select all filtered. The filtered selection is stored safely on the server, so you do not need to load thousands of product IDs into the browser.
Bulk tools
| Tool | What you can do | Important note |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Set, increase, decrease, increase/decrease by percentage, or multiply. | Preview shows the before/after value. A change that would create a negative price is skipped. |
| Quantity | Set, add or subtract quantity. | Useful for stock corrections across many products. Add/subtract operations are protected against duplicate execution. |
| Status / Stock Status | Enable/disable products or set stock status. | Status itself is separate from stock quantity. |
| Date Available | Set one availability date for the selection. | Useful for scheduled/new products. |
| Manufacturer | Assign or clear a manufacturer. | Only current OpenCart manufacturers are accepted. |
| Categories | Add, remove or replace category assignments. | Replace is destructive and requires confirmation. |
| Stores | Add, remove or replace store assignments, including Default Store (store 0). | A product with no store assignment is not visible on a storefront. Replace is destructive. |
| Filters | Add, remove or replace Product Filters. | Replace removes filters not in the new set. |
| Related Products | Add, remove or replace related-product relationships. | OpenCart links related products reciprocally. |
| Attributes | Set an existing Attribute value or remove an Attribute assignment. | Values are language-aware. This does not create new global Attribute definitions. |
| Special | Add, replace or remove true single-unit Specials by customer group, type, priority and date. | Quantity-tier discounts are kept separate and are not treated as a normal Special. |
| Copy | Create a copy of selected Standard products. | Copies are disabled, get - Copy in the name, and do not copy product identifiers or SEO URLs. Master/Variant copy is not supported in V1. |
| Delete | Delete selected products. | Destructive confirmation is required. A Master with Variants cannot be silently deleted while leaving orphan Variants. |
Preview, progress and failures
- Matched is how many products are in the frozen selection.
- Will change is the exact eligible count, not an estimate.
- Preview also reports skipped inherited Variants, Masters affected, inheriting Variants to synchronise and Special conflicts where relevant.
- Destructive replace/delete actions require typing CONFIRM.
- When the operation finishes, the progress window changes to a clear Completed state.
- Retry Failed creates a new run containing only products the server actually recorded as failed. Products that already succeeded are not applied again.
Special prices and quantity pricing
OpenCart stores several kinds of pricing rows together, so Product Manager separates them visually:
- Special means the current single-unit promotional price for the relevant customer group.
- Quantity Pricing means a discount that applies only when the customer buys the stated quantity, such as 10+ units.
- Bulk Special operations target true Specials and do not silently remove normal quantity-tier discounts.
Settings
| Setting | Default / range | Recommended for most stores |
|---|---|---|
| Products per page | 50 · allowed 10–250 | Keep 50. Raise it only if your browser/server remains comfortable. |
| Default view | Catalog | Catalog is the best general starting view. |
| Thumbnail size | 40 px · allowed 20–120 | 40–60 px keeps the grid compact. Larger values increase row height. |
| Low stock threshold | 5 | Set this to the quantity at which you normally want attention. |
| Default language | Store's configured language | Select the language you edit most often. |
| Default identifier | SKU | Keep SKU unless your store mainly uses another OpenCart identifier. |
| Quick Add tax class | Your saved choice | Choose the class most new products use. |
| Quick Add stock status | First available stock status | Choose your normal out-of-stock status. |
| Quick Add subtract stock | On | Keep on for normal physical stock. |
| Quick Add requires shipping | On | Keep on for physical products; turn off for products that do not ship. |
| Quick Add minimum quantity | 1 | Keep 1 unless products normally have a higher minimum order quantity. |
| Quick Add stores | Default Store | Select every storefront where newly created products should be available. |
Recommended first test
- Open Product Manager and leave the default settings.
- Find one test product by Model or SKU.
- Change a harmless field such as Quantity and confirm it saves.
- Open Quick Editor and check Associations, Images and Content.
- Select two or three test products, choose a simple bulk operation, and read the Preview before applying.
- Only after this, try Select all filtered for a larger job.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| A cell will not edit | Check whether it is inherited from a Master, whether the field is editable in that view, and whether your admin user has modify permission. |
| Image cannot be changed | Check HuntBee Media Manager permission and verify the image exists inside OpenCart's image directory. |
| Model-only Advanced Filter gives no result | Make sure Category and Manufacturer are left on Any, not an explicit category/manufacturer. |
| Bulk action has skipped products | Read the Preview/result reason. Inherited Variants are intentionally skipped for operations they do not own. |
| Retry Failed is unavailable | Only a finished run with server-recorded failures can be retried. Skipped products are not failures. |
| Duplicate Codes shows a result | Use Genuine duplicates to find unrelated products sharing a code. Expected Master/Variant inheritance is informational. |
